Everywhere you look you see weight loss headlines that say things such as lose 30 lbs in 30 days - or get fit fast with these diet pills - or lose 20 lbs while eating whatever you want. - There is one word that sums up what these types of headlines these are…SCAMS. You should not believe an ad that tells you that you can lose weight in a short amount of time. Especially if they tell you that you don’t have to exercise. You will not get results that way. Think about it, if any of these crazy diets worked, why does the obesity in America continue to rise? In this country alone, 65% of the population is overweight. With all the scam diets out there today, a person will probably see at least three a day. You can see them on TV, in magazines, on the internet and even on the radio. When someone sees one of these ads and is eager to lose weight fast. These ads appeal to them. They wonder if the diet they see will work for them which leads to other questions. Some people will stop at nothing to make themselves loose weight. Everyone is looking for the fastest and easiest way to do so. That is why these ad scams work so well. Of course you are going to want to know more about a diet that tells you that you can loose weight in less than 5 days or a weight loss plan that tells you you can eat whatever you want. That is definitely appealing to someone desperate. So the person will find out more and most likely do the diet or buy whatever they need to start it. It won’t be long before they will realize that the diet is not working for them. But this wont be the end, the person will more than likely just try a different scam off of an infomercial or someplace else. This can go on for years. Also, many of these diets are not even good for your body. If it was true that you could loose 10 pounds in a week then you are putting your heart at risk. People need to realize that loosing weight isn’t easy. Nor can it be made easy with any special diet. To loose weight successfully you will have to change your routine and lifestyle. You must find an exercising program you can keep up with and most importantly you need to stick to it. You may think that trying to loose weight using an exercise program and strict eating habits will take a long time to achieve your goals. If that’s what you are thinking, stop and think about all the time, effort and money you put into trying to make those diet scams work. Exercising to loose weight is dramatically effective over time. The diet scams you see everywhere are not effective. Strategic Weight Loss

One of the first things that you’ll do when you decide to lose weight is to set a goal weight. For most, that goal will be their ‘ideal weight’, but for many, that ‘ideal weight’ may be exactly the wrong weight for them to be aiming for.

Years of dieting or being overweight have the physiological effect of moving the body’s concept of the ‘ideal weight’ from what is truly considered ideal. The ’set point’ is the weight at which your body naturally feels most comfortable. If you’ve been overweight for a very long time, or if you’ve consistently ‘yo-yoed’, your body may respond to your initial weight loss by lowering its metabolism because it believes that you are starving to death. This slowing leads to discouraging plateaus that often knock people off their diets entirely, and lead to regaining all or part of the lost weight.

Instead of aiming for an ‘ideal weight’ that calls for you to lose weight steadily for months or even years, many experts recommend aiming for shorter-term attainable goals. Since the bulk of diet research shows that most dieters lose weight steadily for about 12 weeks, then hit a plateau, that’s the number that they suggest you aim for. The strategy that many have found works best for them is one of alternating periods of weight loss and maintenance, each lasting 8-12 weeks.

Choose a realistic amount of weight that you can lose in 8-12 weeks. Figuring that the most reasonable and healthiest weight loss rate is 1-2 pounds per week, 30 pounds in three months is not unreasonable. Diet until you reach that goal, or for 12 weeks, whichever comes first, and then switch to a maintenance diet.

Why switch to a maintenance diet at that point? In part, you’re giving yourself a ‘breather’, a break from more restrictive eating. The other part, though, is that you’re re-educating your body and letting it establish a new ’set point’. Once you’ve maintained your new weight for 8-12 weeks, set another weight loss goal, and move back into weight loss mode. By giving your body a break from ’starvation’, you’ll have overcome its resistance to losing more weight, and be back to dieting for ‘the first two weeks’ - the weeks that most people lose weight more rapidly.

You’ll also be giving yourself a chance to ‘practice’ maintaining your new, healthier weight. Researchers have found that more than half of the dieters who take off significant amounts of weight do not maintain that weight loss once they go ‘off’ their diet. By practicing weight maintenance in stages, you’ll be proving to yourself that you CAN do it, and removing a powerful negative psychological block.

This will work with any long-term weight loss diet, no matter the focus. You’ll find it much easier to do if you choose a diet that has concrete ‘phases’, like the South Beach or the Atkins, since the weight loss and maintenance phases are clearly laid out for you to follow. Regardless of the diet you choose, though, by alternating between weight loss phases and maintenance phases, you’ll teach yourself and your body how to maintain a healthy weight.

The goal of losing weight is a great idea, but it is important to follow common medical sense, very believing the “success stories” that are all too common in the informationals or sales ads (if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is).

How you lower that calorie count is key. The safe way to cut calories is by eating fewer foods high in fats and sugars — which are loaded in calories — while following a balanced diet drawing from all the major food groups. In addition to being healthier, balanced and diverse diet programs are easier to stick to because of the variety (boredom doesn’t set it).

Eat less, exercise more. It sounds straightforward and yet only 20% of the people that are trying to lose weight are actually taking a two stage approach. The ideal weight loss program will feature a gradual transition to a healthy meal program with a gradual increase in daily exercise and intensity.

Rather than accepting the fad diets at face value, it is important to talk to your doctor before starting any diet program. Your doctor may have clinical information about the program that you won’t get from the sales pitch on TV or on the internet.
